Three Cheers

In November I nominated 11 writers for inclusion in the Library of America. Its spring catalog arrived in the mail on Tuesday, and three of my nominees have been inducted: William Maxwell (Early Novels and Stories), Elizabeth Bishop (Poems, Prose, and Letters), and A.J. Liebling (World War II Writings). Democracy works.
