`A Paradise of Delightful Absurdities'

An acquaintance of my brother’s, Bruce Baumwoll, has assembled a video collage about an old friend of mine, the Cleveland cartoonist Gary Dumm, and his wife Laura, who is also an artist. Gary is known best for his longtime collaboration with the late Harvey Pekar, creator of American Splendor. I still have an autographed copy of Flaming Baloney, a comic Gary published in Cleveland in 1975. Gary’s work, as Hilton Kramer wrote of Saul Steinberg’s, is “a paradise of delightful absurdities.” Gary and Laura’s website is DummArt.
